Information
about receiving a 2003 GLCP fellowship
Each year,
the Great Lakes Culture Program awards four fellowships in support
of research pursuant to its primary objectives: to identify, collect,
study, interpret and disseminate the cultural history and expressions
of the diverse peoples, traditions and customs of the Great Lakes region
and the regions interactions with the world. The Center seeks to
enhance public understanding of the relevance and relationship of such
humanistic study to the examination and understanding of public issues.
These goals will be achieved through the development, linkage, and dissemination
of specific disciplinary, cross-disciplinary, and interdisciplinary research,
teaching and public engagement activities. These activities include research,
teaching (university, K-12 curricular development, and informal education),
conferences, symposia, multimedia, real and virtual exhibitions, festivals,
and collection development. The Program will also build on the complementary
expertise and strengths of regionally focused humanities and arts concentrations
at other cultural institutions by applying them as appropriate to the
Centers work and public programs.
